An all-female band based in Los Angeles with roots in Mexico City, The Mexican Standoff bridges the Latin, Country, and punk scenes with their vibrant "Mexamericana" sound — blending cumbia, mariachi, and country with a punk twist. Their album Hola Texas!, recorded with the legendary Flaco Jiménez and Los Texmaniacs, was recognized by NPR Music and The Boston Globe (Top 30 Albums), and stands as a celebration of border culture that honors tradition while creating a new sound.

Known for electrifying live performances, their highlights include performing at the sold-out Dodgers Mexican Heritage Night, headlining Levitt Pavilions across the US and NextFest LA, and performing in Las Vegas from the Contramar opening party at Fontainebleau Hotel to Punk Rock Bowling. They've headlined The Grand Ole Echo (Echoplex) in Los Angeles, performed at L7's Fast and Furious Festival at The Belasco Theater, and shared stages with Los Super Seven and Los Amigos Invisibles.

With new cumbias dropping in 2026, the band continues to evolve their signature sound.

There's nothing hardcore about the Mexican Standoff, but try listening to 'One Way Ticket to TJ' without it getting drilled into your head forever. These Mexican American ladies sing Mexamericana tunes in English and Spanish with sweet harmonies and lyrics that bite." -Jim Ruland, LA Times

"A modern take on a sound that has been in Texas for decades and generations. This is super fun, is all female, bringing the party wherever they go."-Matt Reilly, KUTX Austin via NPR

“The debut LP by The Mexican Standoff and its fusion of Tejano, Mariachi, Country, and Punk is here to serve as a celebration of diversity in personhood and song.” -Boston Globe

“Energetic playing and gorgeous vocals breathe new life into the Tejano and ranchero traditions…”-Jim Shahen, No Depression
